Up for IMMEDIATE sale, is my 1972 BMW "2002". California smog exempt. Desirable round tail light model, factory Colorado orange paint. Currently a rolling shell, with new H4 headlights, flush euro turn signals and new all red tails. Also has all 4 period correct 15" MSW wheels and brand new Luisi steering wheel.
Always been in CA, minimal rust for a 43 year old car, all seems to be in non-structural areas. Interior floor has already been properly treated and sealed with an industrial grade epoxy paint. There's a noticeable dent along the passenger side front fender and door, however there's no sharp crease and seems like it can be popped out and re-shaped easily. No shifting of the body or panels, so no frame issues. All body trim has been removed and holes were sealed with auto wrap vinyl to prevent any further rust.
ALL DMV backfees ($700 just by itself) were paid off to make this a road-legal car. Again, no smog ever required due to being pre-1975. Great candidate for an awesome engine swap. My plan was a supercharged M42 4-cylinder with coil-on-plugs. An engine swap from a Honda S2000 would be even more awesome, and has been successfully done by the folks at CAtuned in Sacramento. From the factory this is already typically 1900 pounds. Massively fun and can be made to keep up with many modern cars and out handle nearly all of them.
This was and still is one of my top 3 dream cars. The ONLY reason I am parting with it is I moved 3000 miles away to help my family, and the shipping company screwed me over royally. Just trying to break even or close, since I can't afford to ship it any longer. I'll take any reasonable offer to get it sold and gone at the soonest opportunity. Car is located in Walnut Creek 94596, and will need to be towed.
