Spoke to the fine gentleman of Port of Prescott Port Authority in New York this morning.
This is where the car will be delivered to, if there is a U.S. buyer.

for me to export the vehicle (the easy way)
have the buyer enter Canada, and export it as his/her own with the title signed over to the buyer.
there is a 2.5% duty tax incorporated into the import, based on the sale price of the car provided it is not manufactured in North America.

the hard way (which I won't do)
hire a broker, in which I will have to pay to export a $3000 car, and get it notarized by lawyers etc etc.

ALSO, as an FYI, this car is on Ebay with a reserve price of 2800.
There's about a day left in the auction and is currently sitting at 1800ish.

if it doesn't hit reserve, i'll try selling it again locally (or through here).
if no luck, I'm just gonna keep it.

To enter the country I believe so.
Or I'll look into the actual cost of a broker tomorrow...maybe it's not that expensive.

Basically Fly to canada, exchange money (ownership/title etc) and you cross over yo usa boarder and pay 2.5% of selling fee.

Broker might be easier and worth the cost

Buyer said he sent cashiera cheque by mail, never got a a deposit (said he sent full amount by cheque) failed to ever get a tracking number, communication fizzled out and died. Avoided my calls/texts even when I tracked him down at his employers.
Finally sends a text saying "can't buy right now bad"

Reported to ebay etc etc

I can be in the states with it no problem.

I'll even cover the customs brokerage fee to have it brought over.

You would need to pay the cost of the vehicle plus 2.5% customs duty tax based on that price.
Than you drive it/tow away.

I would go to port of Prescott in ogdensburg New York.

You need to leave negative feedback. Future sellers would appreciate it. This needs to be documented with negative feedback at the very least. What a total time waster and liar to boot. Mailed check...man who even does that anymore? Next auction insist on paypal.
