I'm going to start this off by trying to sell everything all at once.
This is a project car. It was a complete car when I bought it, I drove it home almost 4 years ago and started tearing right into it. I have all of the original parts still from when I bought the car, unless noted below. At this point, I am well over $11k invested and countless hours of effort involved (but I won't even begin to total that up :))
1973 BMW 2002
Original color: Sahara
Clean title in my name
No back fee's, registered under Non-Op
VERY minimal rust, has always been a CA car
VW MK1 fender flares welded in and 95% done. Just needs finishing body work.
TONS of new parts which will be included in the sale
Exterior:
- I have spent countless hours on the body of this car, mostly from welding in the MK1 fender flares. They fit the body of the 2002 perfectly and I wanted them to look as if they left the factory like that. They still need some finishing body work, but are very close to being complete. Full body needs some degree of body work before it's ready for a respray.
- All glass is present and included in the sale. I have various brand new OEM rubber seals as well.
- Front and rear chrome bumpers
- All trim is there, in so-so condition. I'd say a 6/10
- Grilles and Kidney in decent shape, I'd say 8/10
- Crosshair headlights retrofitted, they look great
Engine:
Original M10 engine was sold last year in favor of doing an M20 swap. I have a complete M20 with all necessary wiring, ECU, battery cable, etc that I pulled from a 325is and started disassembling it so it's all in pieces but everything is there. I will include everything that I have for that in the sale (will deduct $300 if you want nothing to do with it). However, if you prefer an M10, the engine bay is still set up for an M10, I didn't remove anything other than the motor. You will have to source a new M10 separately though.
Interior:
Original interior was pretty shot, I still have the original tobacco door panels (decent condition) and rear seat, but the front seats were trashed. I retrofitted black cloth VW GTI front sport seats to fit, the rear seat will need to be reupholstered in the same material to match. Very comfortable and look awesome. Also have a brand new black Esty carpet kit ready to be installed as well as a brand new headliner.
Suspension/Brakes:
I refurbished the suspension with all new OEM bushings and brand new control arms. Rear subframe has camber adjustment tabs welded in. Brand new brake rotors and calipers included but not yet installed. Rebuilt axles with fresh boots.
I built a custom air suspension setup for it, which required me to modify the original strut housings. The rears aren't complete but only require some simple brackets to be fabricated to work, the rears are way less involved than the fronts were. I'd prefer to sell the car with the air suspension, otherwise I'd have to source a set of stock strut housings to replace them.
Rust/Repairs:
When I first bought this car, I disassembled it and tackled rust first, which it had VERY LITTLE of to begin with. Mainly just a few small areas in the floorboards got cut out and replaced. At one point throughout it's life the driver's side rear quarter panel was replaced. Hood and trunk have some rust along the lip on the inside.
BBS wheels will be sold separately (or they can be yours for $2300. BBS RM Freshly refinished, never driven on, powder coated satin black, 15x9 et1 all around, 195/45/15 tires like new)
I could go on and on about this car's features. This is a good start and if this sounds like something you'd be interested in then we can talk more details.
Price is $7000 for everything except the BBS wheels, this includes all the parts and air suspension pictured below.
I will try to find a set of stock strut housings for those who are not interested in the air suspension. This would bring the price down to $4250.
I'd also be willing to deduct a few of the parts to bring your price down.
Please feel free to private message me with inquiries or questions
Here are a bunch of photos showing the condition of the project, sorry if they are a bit scattered. You should be able to get a good idea of the state of the car. I wrote notes on a few of the pictures to highlight certain details that might not be obvious at first glance.
First off, the day I brought it home. February 27th, 2012.

And now, it's current state. November 22nd, 2015.
