This is my son's car. I purchased it originally from someone in Southern California number of years back and gave it to him a couple years ago. He received a new(er) car for Christmas and is selling this car.
The car runs good except it no longer has second gear. We replaced the original clutch and hoped it would help but second gear finally failed and it won't go in.
It passed Nevada smog though we had to replace the catalytic converter and O2 sensor. I bought a new pipe with the catalytic converter and it rattles against the lower control arm mount. It probably needs a correctly made pipe put in it. It looks like they made the bend the wrong way in it.
Interior:
- Dash has cracks.
- Glove box doesn't open - broken latch.
- No head unit. The panel does have a crack in it around the buttons and where the stereo opening is.
- Front seats have splits in them. Rear seat is still in good condition.
- Heater core was replaced a few years ago.
- No shift knob. When the clutch was done we didn't have a new one to put in it and he hasn't replaced it yet.
- Missing the right side door sill cover.
- Not sure on carpet condition. Consider it to have some wear.
- Cluster has an M3 oil temp gauge however it is not hooked up. Have a spare M3 cluster to go with the car.
- Sunroof handle knob I think fell off or something.
- Left side visor doesn't stay up.
- Some really ratty BMW floor mats...
Exterior:
- Looks like it was repainted before I bought it.
- Body panels/doors/hood/trunk have correct VIN number for car.
- No rust issues.
- Body reasonably straight. Only a couple small dings for the most part.
- Power antenna never worked.
- Bumper has some cracks in the black plastic trim pieces.
- One of the door ding protection strips is loose.
- Factory BBS 14" wheels. He painted the wheels red. Don't know...
- Has Euro headlights and grill installed with the proper wiring.
- Missing the front IS lower lip.
- Paint probably needs to be buffed out.
- I think the windshield has a small crack in the upper left hand corner going from top to side.
Engine/Exhaust:
- Stock M42, original transmission
- No meat chopper fan - just uses the electric when/if it gets warm enough.
- New water pump within the last 10k miles.
- I had the AFM apart to adjust it for smog check.
- New cat converter pipe and O2 sensor.
- Dynomax muffler.
- Has Magnecor spiral core plug wires.
- Has some oil leaks and power steering leaks.
Drivetrain/Other:
- Has a new Valeo clutch kit. This is the kit that eliminates the dual mass flywheel and probably has less than 500 miles on it.
- Driveline was replaced with a rebuilt unit about 10k miles ago.
- Has a Z3 shifter in it (no knob as listed above).
- M3 control arm bushings.
- H&R springs and Bilstein struts/shocks.
- Trans no longer goes into second (as mentioned above).
- Standard open case 4.10 rear diff. Nothing special here.
- Brake pads have probably less than 10k miles on them.
- Stainless brake lines and clutch slave cylinder line.
- Fuel pump was replaced probably less than 50k ago.
- Has poly bushings in the rear control arms and subframe mounts.
- Battery is only a few years old I think...
- AC does not work. It still has a charge in the system but the compressor is locked up.
- Some extra take off parts in boxes
