    FS: 1991 318is tastefully modded / overhauled

I'm asking $8k CDN firm for my 1991 318is w/235k km. The exterior is Alpine White and the interior is factory grey Sport Seats. With the exception of the driver's seat, the interior is in stellar shape.

This car would make an excellent weekend warrior car for track or auto-x use. It could also be a decent summer cruiser.

The car is rot free and possibly one of the best shells still kicking around. I did a full overhaul of the car and admittedly spent more than my asking price on overhaul alone.

Its running a very agressive suspension setup that uses rare e30 M3 bits (which were purchased new from the dealer) and runs the larger M3 brakes and a fairly slick set of multi-piece BBS wheels in 17". The price includes an extra set of e30 M3 basket weave wheels and many other spares.

    Rough parts list...
    • Polyurethane subframe bushings
    • Polyurethane trailing arm bushings
    • Polyurethane offset control arm bushings
    • New steel control arms
    • Z3 steering rack kit (2.7 turns lock to lock)
    • New tie rods
    • New front and rear wheel bearings
    • New e30 M3 strut housings and spindles
    • e30 M3 front and rear brakes
    • 25mm master cylinder
    • New hard brake lines from the MC to back
    • Braided stainless steel brake lines to replace rubber
    • e30 M3 front and rear sway bars
    • 500f/750r GC suspension w/custom valved Konis
    • GC rear shock mounts
    • Motor Force Camber/Caster plates
    • 4.10 LSD from e30 M3 freshly rebuilt
    • BBS RY-II 17x8 wheels
    • Falken Azenis RT615 tires in 215/40/17
    • New fluids all around
    • New battery

The engine is basically a stock M42 which does not smoke or burn oil. This car is basically ready to go with many engine swap options. Originally, I was going to drop my S14 into it, but family changes are going to make that less likely. Everything you'd want to address on a car of this age has been taken care of (with the exception of adding more power or a rollcage ;) ).

For addiitonal information, pictures or to see the car in person, please call Kevin @ 416-720-5385. You can also reach me by email at kev"at"m3ntal.com (please replace the "at" with @).

I will entertain reasonable offers with the exclusion of some parts or spares.

    Thanks!

sorry to see it go Kev, I've loved this car since the day you bought it. Wish I needed another car right now as this one is right up my alley...:(

I love those wheels too, you know who to call if you want to split them up. What's the offset on them by the way?

Good luck with the sale, it's a beautiful car...great shape too!!!

Those wheels are great - I want the bad!
Would you sell just the wheels?

You can all get in line.
I asked Kev before anyone even posted in this thread. :p

Guys, let me try to sell the car as is first.

In the event that the wheels are not part of the deal, they will be made available to the appropriate party. ;)

I have no idea. I know what it takes to bring a car purchased in the US into Canada, but not the other way around.

I'm sure the US customs web sites will have that information. Given the car's age, I don't think it would be that difficult.

I know that to bring a car from Canada into Oregon, you pay about $150 in taxes and fees, pay to get a title and registration, and that's pretty much it.

Sounds like a good deal for a excellent condition vehicle.

Bringing a car from Canada to the US is not cheap, but Im not sure as to what year the cutoff is where you dont have to modify it to US specs. That being said I say just drive her over, shouldnt be much of a problem and customs shouldnt bat an eye at it.

                            *sigh*

                            Please don't spread mis-information.
Many reputable sites exist to explain the process/costs/requirements for importing a car from Canada/Europe.

Given that Kevin's 318is was originally built and slated for North American delivery, it will conform to all US Spec rules. The only things that may need adjusting are
                            1) Headlights which are likely pre-wired to be daytime running lights
                            2) MPH/KMPH speedometer

Everything else should be up to par already.
A quick call to any DMW (oxymoron I know...) or a registerd importer (www.willz.ca) will answer any and all questions regarding importation.

Kevin, its an excellent car which I'd love to buy as a daily driver.... Best of luck in the sale!

                            Regards,
                            Chris
