Yep, Alex's second E30, now belongs to a friend of the family.

Vedubin--no, this is an M20, it probably makes in the 200-215hp range.
edit: Who makes M20's of this spec that make that sort of power?

You can make one hell of a torque beast beating an M30 with forged rods, oversized forged pistons (higher compression), forged crank, boring out the bigger throttle body, 284 to 30X cam, titanium valve springs, forged rockers, decking the head, doing a certain amount of port work in certain spots (you can get these heads to flow up to 16 percent better i think, steel billet cam with those specs i mentioned, lightweight flywheel and clutch, 4.10 LSD, etc...
and you can get in the 12's for a fact on the quarter miles.
A 3 angle valve job with the first cut at 34 degrees, polished ports and custom intake runners, etc...and the list goes on.
The M20's produce a lot more torque than horsepower due to design.
You can roast em up for days with the combo that i just described.

And gutting the car helps even more, every 100 pounds you lose, you increase your quarter miles time by 1/10th of the original time...or thats a close estimate. Sticky soft tires as well.

These engines are capable of being monsters for torque.
oh and making sure everything is dynamically balanced as well.
11 seconds seems very freasbile if you put about 8 grand into the engine bay and tires.
            nitrous helps too

I just looked and now cant find it. I think it was in the little local part they send you for your local chapter. It was a 2.8 making 280hp for $6k. If anyone is in SoFLA please look to see if you see it. Sorry!

That McHenry guy apparently does not know how to get the full power out of an M20.

Dont s'pose the "monster" you describe would grenade very easily, do you?

above poster ^^^ asked me about the motor blowing.
When i build motors it takes a while cause i triple check everything, the motor is blueprinted for even wear on the engine.
Thats why i get forget parts to be able to handle that kind of stress, also forgot to mention MSD ignition.
I would think as a daily driver the motor would last 135,000 miles roughly, and taking it to the track.
Of course i would get better gaskets made out of silicon, teflon, ceramic, and other metals for good heat protection and sealing properties.
Its all about being able to have the parts that can support the stress of all that power.

Decreasing your time would be better . :nice:
