    1988 E28 M5 - No Longer Available

    1988 E28 M5

Regretfully selling my 1988 BMW M5, of which I am the third owner. Purchased in November 2014, have done a large amount of maintenance work including upgraded brakes and a full top end rebuild. All worked performed by me with the exception of the cylinder head machining. Car is now very solid mechanically and retains a mostly stock outward appearance.

No check panel lights on, no cluster warning lights on, all instruments work well. Cruise control functional. No structural rust, no significant body rust. CA car all its life. Passenger rear door is non-original, all other body panels are and have correct DC93 VIN.

After top end rebuild, engine puts down 232 rwhp and 226 ft-lbs on a Dynojet (dyno chart is included with paperwork). Accelerates, stops and turns well. Would not hesitate to drive cross-country tomorrow. Passes smog with flying colors, paperwork included.

Folder of receipts from the PO is included. My receipts are mostly digital, but can be provided as well.

    * Mileage is not 100% accurate. The odometers in these cars have a chip that proportions the speed signal to accurately reflect on the odometer. If the solder that attaches this chip to the cluster corrodes, it can put the chip in a configuration where it double-counts the miles on the odometer, i.e. it spins twice as fast. Neither I nor the PO know how many miles ago the odometer started doing this, but it has been accurate since being corrected; the car has at most 196k miles, but almost certainly a good amount less. Nonetheless, odometer says 196k, I say 196k. Carfax does not show any mileage discrepancies. See http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?p=545944&sid=cf69ec5649ba98750084025 175269518#p545944 for a description of the problem and the fix.

Have you listed it on S14.net? or some of the other sites? Might want to bring it to Monterey with a discreet FS sign on it.
