For Sale: 1989 325i Convertible - Automatic - Bronzit (CT)
Purchased from Sports Car Restoration in 2014 with unknown history. Odometer was broken when purchased, reading in the mid 200's. If that's the actual mileage the engine and transmission do not reflect it in their performance. It was intended for my wife but has been driven very little since its purchase. We had a child shortly after bringing it home and it just doesn't get as much love and attention as it deserves. It hasn't been a primary focus of mine so I never took a deep dive into it, but I know enough about it to answer questions or dig deeper should anybody have any requests.
No rust areas to speak of. Body is straight.
Car drives very well. Sits comfortably with cloth sport seats. Rear seats are vinyl with one small tear hidden by the seat belt. The interior the highlight of the car and with the top down it's a fun place to be.
I believe the suspension is lower than stock but I never had another cabrio for comparison's sake. It definitely sits lower than my sedan.
Car has an LSD for some reason. As a result, the speedometer reads higher than actual speed.
Full OBC works. Aftermarket head unit with working factory-installed speakers. USB connection for media streaming.
Manual top is serviceable but does leak if the car is left outside without a cover. It does have small holes at stress points. With a cover no water enters the interior.
Paint is sun faded.
Dash is severely cracked.
Blower motor is bad. Will blow on high, but loudly. A/C actually seems to work as cold air comes from the vents when engaged.
I replaced the throttle position sensor and one of the connectors for the cruise control cable snapped. I have replacement parts for it but never installed it.
Tool kit is incomplete. Jack is rusted.
Work required: Timing belt service highly recommended (3 years old). Rear right wheel bearing isn't rumbling yet but it isn't as quiet as it should be. One of the muffler exhaust hangers is missing, allowing the muffler to bump the chassis from time to time.
Thank you for looking and please let me know if you have any questions.
