It pains me to do this, but unfortunate life circumstance has left me no choice. The car is a 1990 e30 M3. Diamond Schwarz Metallic. ~165k miles on chassis. ~125k miles on clean OBD1 swapped s52 with e36 ZF 5 speed. Tasteful upgrades on the car with endless dollars and man hours invested. All “new” items marked in the detailed descriptions are done within the only ~10k miles driven on the swap.

Every sensor on the motor is new as of the swap (crank, cam, knocks, new 3.5'' MAF, temp sensors, throttle position sensor, etc). New oil pan gasket. New Belts. New A/C Condenser and Compressor (AC is Ice Cold). All silicone hoses. New Oxygen Sensor. Bimmerworld Silicone larger 3.5” intake boot. K&N CAI. M50Manifold.com silicone hose kit. All wiring is tucked under the e30 m3 covers - kept clean and out of site. New OEM Clutch and Flywheel (New transmission seals and bearings, etc.). Fresh “redline” in tranny and diff. New power steering lines. New fuel filter. New Thermostat. New Metal impeller water pump. New radiator temp switch. New Mutsuhito Aluminum Radiator. Silicone radiator hoses. New Pulleys. New brake pedal sensor. New motor and Tranny mounts. New Blower Resistor. New Diff Mount. New SI Board Batteries.
Suspension: Car was on H&R Race Springs with Bilstein shocks which was too stiff a ride for my comfort around town. Thus I took the opportunity to upgrade to H&R Sport springs on new Koni sport adjustables (yellows) shocks and to retain the lowered ride height installed e90 drop hats in the front. New Strut Mounts. New Control Arms. New Sway Bar End Links. New Tie Rods. New Axle Boots. Front & Rear Strut Bars. TreeHouse Racing Control Arms Lollipop bushings. Also has slotted rotors and ceramic brake pads with stainless lines (UUC).
Exhaust: very carefully picked for the swap. I’ve seen many 24v swaps with the single 3'' pipe, but the duel 2.25'' setup this car has a very unique and aggressive sound. As my 3rd 24 valve swap now this has been my preferred configuration. Raceland headers. Headers are heat shield wrapped. Magnaflow high-flow cats.
Interior: Front seats are e30 sport seats. Rear M seat has some stitching pulling..(repairable) The leather itself is great. Near crackles dash. E46 M floor mats. Headliner is good. Fantastic M-Tech II Steering wheel. Lighted e36 M shift knob. Alcantara shift boot and e-brake set with M stitching. LED OBD Mod. George Graves Interior Light Dimmer Mod. 2-way Viper Alarm, keyless entry.
Exterior: Needs paint. It's the original diamond schwarz metallic paint. Hood, roof and spoiler are sun faded. The engine bay paint, door jams, etc are fantastic. A few door dings and 1 dent in the rear passenger quarter panel, easily accessible and not very noticeable. Southwest rust free car. Paint has always been the last on my list and really all the car needs as everything else is meticulously sorted and addressed– attention to date has been on the mechanics, a solid drivetrain and suspension.
Absolutely solid runner– I was fortunate enough to journey cross-country with her, just after the swap, from Tucson, AZ to Portland, Oregon and back and loved every minute. I’d do it again tomorrow if I could.
Planned future work (If money weren’t an issue): Paint is the most obvious. ABS light is on– there are 2 sensors (front & rear), I haven’t been able to determine which is the culprit. Not necessary, but poly subframe bushings with the weld in subframe reinforcements was also on my list. IX model brake booster and/or big brake kit for additional stopping power.
Don't hesitate to ask questions. There is plenty I’m forgetting and not listed here. I have a binder of receipts for everything! I’m responsible for the swap (I have a few 24v e30 swaps under my belt). I’ve owned the car for ~7 years now. I’m happy to talk your ear off about the car and BMW fandom.
