    2002 Dinan Steel Gray Coupe - 6MT/CSL/VANOS/RTD/TCK

A lot was invested into this car all within the past year to make it my perfect E46 M3 - it's well sorted with a select quality part. It's my daily and driving 70 miles a day, I'm looking for something bigger and possibly DCT. This is my 3rd E46 M3, owned for a year and maybe the last one until I can afford to have a dedicated track build.

    History:
I believe 2 previous owners, both BMW enthusiasts.
    Previous sale link here
Norcal/Socal car, with one year spent in Spokane, Washington.
    Garaged, never driven in snow.

Car itself is in great condition, both interior and exterior. Paint is in great condition, no accidents, frame damage or rust. Interior is nice, leather shows minimal wear and all panels look good. Front bumper can use a respray. Sunroof is functional. A/C blows cold, stereo sounds superb, seats function, auxiliary items such as defrost, wipers, lights, gauges all work as intended.

I desperately want one of these.
Unfortunately for me just not the right time.
Hopefully I can land one before prices sky rocket.

Great looking car though, GLWS (not that you'll need it)
One does not simply walk into 4door

Okay...the price is one thing, I'll leave that part alone for the sake of not being called a thread crapper.

Let's talk about the important issue. You're trying to offload an e46 M3 which you are implying has subframe damage?

For the less educated/non e36/7/8 or e46 owners of us here, this issue is DANGEROUS. It doesn't sound like this car is ready to be sold.

Seller, lets see some good, high quality images of that subframe. Potential buyers, it sounds like a subframe inspection would be an appropriate course of action before considering purchasing this one.

You know is the not the subframe that cracks, right? It's the sheet metal floor of the car that the subframe mounts to. And yeah price is

OP, looks like a beautiful example of an E46 M3.

Maybe he is implying that the rear floor hasn't been reinforced yet. I doubt he would be asking top dollar if the rear mounting points were toast. But who knows

Price isnt far off for a well sorted E46 M3. My long time friend and business partner just sold his Alpine White E46 M3 for $18,500.00. The car had a few more miles but with a reinforced subframe. I would imagine the OP could fetch similar pricing (if not more), if he reinforced the subframe and fixed a couple more issues.

You guys roll your eyes now, but we all did that when E30 M3's started climbing back up in value...and look where we are now :)

Yes, it's the structural welds in the floor that tear. However as these are a part of the rear structure of the car I'd consider that subframe "damage".

Regardless of verbage, it needs to be repaired, if it is in fact damaged.

I don't roll my eyes, the higher these climb, the more my 01 Z3M is worth! But a local craigslist search still yields 10 of these under 13k. And that's only locally. I don't think we're quite at this point yet.

I hear ya! The Z3M has already exceeded most peoples expectations on where their value would sit. What color combo is yours?

That is true. But most arent well sorted and need THOUSANDS of dollars to be even comparable. We will see in the coming years. The E46 will definitely fetch good money.

                I couldn't agree more.

It's fairly common knowledge, but like Nick mentioned earlier, pointing it out is something that aims to educate the less informed. Even if it's a general beware.

At the end of the day, anyone buying any car should do their due diligence before pulling the trigger.

On the bright side if you want the car but can't afford to address the subframe reinforcement straight away, simply parking this in your garage and staring at it until you can isn't the worst thing in the world ;D

Subframe issues or not, these are great cars.

I'm too lazy to look it up

But what would a good shop charge to reinforce the rear and lets assume its really toast.

I expect it varies from shop to shop and coast to coast.
IIRC here in SWFL between $1k-$1.5k maybe even a bit more for reinforcement, 3 or 4 times that for floor replacement.
