    FS: 1988 e30 M3 Zinno Red

    1988 M3
    Zinnoberrot Red
    235k miles
    Clean Title
    Asking $35,000

Purchased from the original owner by my family in January 1989 when it had 11,484 miles. Car has mostly been driven by my mother ever since in nice weather. Car is from Virginia but I shipped it to CA in 2018 so I could clean it up and sell it for her.

High-mileage car with the original engine; it still runs well and looks great. It is not perfect but has plenty of life left in it and has been well cared-for over the years. I have all the service records since it came into the family and I know the whole history of the car. The car primarily had one certified BMW mechanic for its whole life; his pending retirement has prompted the sale.

I have many details to share about this car and have listed some highlights below:

    Modifications:
    • Korman Oil pan baffle
    • Borla Muffler
    • Aftermarket stereo, amplifiers, and subwoofer
    • Repainted the whole car in 2003 to the original color
    • Odometer stopped working at 232,628. When I received the car in summer 2018, I sent the cluster to Bavarian Restoration to have them rebuild the whole thing and change the miles to 235,428 which I estimate to be closer to the actual miles based on what my mother was still using the car for and how infrequently she was driving it.

No big accidents or mechanical issues

    Known issues:
    • Air conditioner does not work; all parts are present but has not been charged in years
    • Probably needs alignment and wheel balance
    • Slight power steering rack drip, (~a few drops/week)
    • Driver’s seat is worn, no splits but the leather is not in prime condition; interior foam is still in proper shape
    • Rear seat stitching is splitting in one spot
    • Missing fog lights and front tow hook cover
    • Car was backed-into in a parking lot in 2010 prompting a rear bumper repaint and new taillight; repair was performed well and looks fine, was a light bumper hit

I keep checking everyday hoping it is bought to take away the temptation. It would look good next to my other red car...

You may consider posting leak down and compression numbers to ease people's worries about the engine. Also, what happened to the lower left front bumper?

Seems like a solid price! GLWS!!

Same. I could sell my E46 M3 ZCP and add additional funds for the car... but I don’t know if OP can wait that long.

I already tried a trade + cash offer but I think OP is looking to sell outright at this time.

@sgtskid, I’ll try to see if I can perform a compression test this weekend and post some numbers. The ding on the bumper was from when my mom let someone else drive her car and this person cut it too close to a curb when turning and scraped some paint off the bottom of the bumper. It’s just cosmetic. I have another local coming to look at the car this weekend so we’ll if it sells.

Got tired of dreaming about this car so lets bring it back to the east coast!
