I'm considering buying a new car but would need to sell my little bundle of joy-
1988 325iX
- My dad bought it for my brother in 2004 I think and I got it in Spring 2005. We bought it from a dealership with about 101,000 miles.
- lachsilber exterior, straight body, no wrecks, beautiful original paint.
- mint cardinal red sport interior.
- 122,000 miles
Suspension
- koni SA shocks (6/2006)
- B&G springs. (6/2006)
- GC bumpstops (6/2006)
- Bimmerworld RSM. (6/2006)
- Tie rod ends replaced (6/2006)
- This isn't really suspension, but I rebuilt the front calipers while I was doing suspension just because. (valvoline brake fluid)
Exterior
- Nice, original lachsilber paint
- Blacked out sidemarkers
- DIY smoked tail lights
- Tucked bumpers
- ASA AR1 wheels w/ Yokohama Parada tires (6/2006)
- Rieger infinity front lip
- debadged
- 35% (I think) window tint
- sylvania silverstar bulbs
- blacked out kidney grills
I will also include the stock 15x7 basketweaves.
Interior
- Nice, original cardinal red sport interior
- AC Schnitzer eBay pedals and door sills
- M Tech 1 steering wheel w/ new ///m badge
- MB Quart front speakers and tweeters
- Right now it has an Alpine headunit but I'm not sure what will be included, but something will be there.
- Momo shift knob
- leather e36 e-brake handle
- Euro fog light switch
- German check panel
Engine
- BavAuto PowerFlow intake
- Custom heatshield
- Oil Changed every 3-4k w/ Castrol High-Mileage
- K&N and Mahle Oil Filters used (Currently has K&N)
- we bought the car with about 101,000 miles and the dealer said the timing belt and water pump were replaced when he got the car.
It had a full tune-up last summer (2005) and also had an oil and power steering leak fixed. At the same time the CV boots/joints were repacked.
problems
There aren't many, but there are a couple minor problems with the car.
- It doesn't have a glove box right now. The latch was broken and stuck locked when we got it so last summer we broke it open (the right way) and I never got around to getting a new one (~$30)
- The gas gauge doesn't work. It is either a loose screw on the back of the cluster, or the fuel sending unit needs replaced. no big deal either way, just never got around to it. I just go by when the low fuel light comes on, it's time to get gas.
- The balljoints clunk and so the control arms would need replaced to stop the clunks, but it still drives.
- It doesn't have a muffler right now. it was kinda falling down so we tore off the muffler to replace it, but I thought it sounded cool, so I just left it open.
- It needs an alignment.
- The steering wheel shakes a bit on the highway between ~53 and ~61 mph. This is either because of an out of balance tire(what I think), or it needing an alignment.
- The power steering leak that was fixed last summer is back, but it's not as bad. I just have to add a little bit of fluid every few weeks. But sometimes the leak is worse than other times depending on how I am parked.
That's it. That may sound like a lot, but I just wanted to get everything out there that is wrong with it.
