I found a killer deal on a rust free 6 series, so I am embarking on a project - to build the 6 series of my (wet) dreams. I need to unload a car, and my E28 is my daily driver, so the 3 series may be on the chopping block...
Basic info:
Lapis Blue 1984 325e chassis, basically no big issues... No rust, a couple dings but nothing terrible. Two small areas of bad clearcoat at the top of the C pillars. With a good buff / polish it will look nice.
Euro L Block 3453cc motor, runs beautifully. Very recently done head, like less than 2000 miles ago. B34 manifolds and big downpipes, ready for the rest of the exhaust to be built. E34 oil pan and pump (duhhhrrr) and e30.de motor mounts. Snug fit, but it does in fact fit. Comes with an E34 airbox as well in case that matters.
Basically what it needs as of now is a front driveshaft, exhaust, a cooling fan (junkyard!) and suspension, unless you like driving a big pogo stick. I have heard an auto eta front half will fit just fine with the Getrag 265 gearbox, but I don't know for sure. The stock 6 series front half would work if it was ~2 inches shorter, and I have a place in town that will do that for $100.
Interior is blue, it has blue cloth SPORT seats that are a little ripped but still feel good. Comes with funky ass ronals and snow tires...
This would make a GREAT car for someone who wants to do an M30 swap but doesn't have the space / time / motivation / knowhow to do it. It's already got the most powerful M30 you can get your hands on (unlesss you find the rare euro highline edition with 2 more hp...), a great tranny, and only needs a little more work to be a shit load of fun. I may keep it if I can't get my minimum price, but I'd rather sell it and concentrate on the 6.
Here are pictures! Try to imagine it with nice wheels and less than 8 inches of ground clearance (thank you blown shocks).

This was while I was installing the B34 manifolds... They are both in there now... Ha
I'd like to get $3000. That is a realistic price for the amount of work involved and the rarity and condition of the motor. You might remember the white one that sold recently for over $6000. A little more work and this one would be worth about that much. I've already had two offers for $3000 that I sorta refused, but I am 100% ready now to move this car to someone who wants to make it as fun as it can be.
Feel free to ask questions, I have tons of other pictures of this car and nothing to hide.
