    lost title?

ok so this might be a little out of place in for sale, but i was wondering... i got this car and the PO assures me the car is in his name, but he cant find the title. sure i was a little stupid for buying the car anyways, but meh. it probably differs from state to state, but i was wondering, how to go about getting a new copy of the title. keep in mind he is available to do anything on his end.

Call the dmv, i have found their phone service to be alright. This is not an uncommon thing, i am sure there are some pretty simple things to get a title. That might include a small fee but nothing overwhelming.

Guy I bought my car from lost the title. I got a bill of sale and went ahead and paid him for the car/picked it up a week after he filed for a new title. It took about 3 weeks total for him to get the new title and then he mailed it to me. Worked out fine.

This should be his responsibility. If it is in his name tell him to apply for a new title.

Agreed. Should not cost more than $50, but depends on state. No title no cash as you can't drive the car without documents.

The state in which he resides should be able to issue him a duplicate title. Cost is usually very little. The process can be expedited if you use a title service or are near the state capital. Good luck!

If the veicle is in his name,All he has to do is go to the dmv here in town(410/Callaghan)and get it.They will print it out there and then for no more than $6.95.He will need his drivers license to provide proof of ownership, and the plate or vin #.I have done this before, that's how I know.If he give you a run-around he is full af shit, and the car was never in his name.
