Its the rear armrest. It controls the radio up front and the passenger front seat. IT was for the VIP if they wanted to change the channel from the back or get some more leg room !

Have owned 2 of them myself - one Arctisblau (early non-motronic) and a silver one like the one shown. The silver one was a motronic with cloth interior. It is possibly available again having gone through 2 local owners. It may be back in the stable. :woowoo:

There is a great group of owners in the Bay area who are very helpful with parts and information. They are the original bmw q-ship especially after changing a few parts. They will make the uninitiated wet their pants.
