I will trade you a great e28 project if you want. New tires, rims, euro headlights, tranny mounts and bushings. It needs a block and sanding, some electrical work, a drivers side rear door latch, the central locking module needs repacing, the interior is bad excluding rear seat. I will throw in a set of black e30 318is seats that need a little repair with the e28.
I am in atl of course and could meet you halfway.
          Yours truly,
          Rich

as someone who currently owns and drives both a vr6 and a 16v i would say they are both super reliable. if i had to choose one tho it would be the 16v. both are mechanically awsome but it's the electronic on teh vr6 that does it in. too many sensors that like to go bad.

Yea, my buddies mk3 vr6 is a horrible electrical nightmare. Stupid window fuses keep blowing out for some reason, theres a short somewhere but we can't find it.

If you were local, I know someone who would take this car off your hands in a second.

man i know what that feels like. thats why the 16v is great because there is limited electrical and the fuel injection is very simple. parts are also cheap as hell and abundant.

CIS is still not as reliable as fuel injection. Long trips hands down the VR6 would be the motor of choice.

i don't know where your getting your information from but the cis in my 1980 rabbit that came out of an 83 gti still works flawless and it has over 200k on it. people don't like cis becuase they don't want to learn how to tune and use it. cis is just as reliable as fi, it's just not as efficient.

it would take you twice as long to make a long trip in the vr6 becasue you would be stopping for gas every 350 miles.

You wouldn't mind telling me some of these tuning tips. I don't see how you can tune cis. I mean theres a idle adjuster but i'm pretty sure thats it. Oh and vortex has been my main source for alittle while. And my 16v 2.0 gets awful gas mileage for a 4 cyl...

sorry that your 16v gets shit milage man, but i get about 500 to a full tank in mine and i think thats pretty good. cis has been around for a long time and there all kinds of little tricks to get more out of it. you should search around on the vortex a little more. i'm not trying to bash you or anything, i'm just saying.

Well i mean, I havent actually calculated how many mpg i get. I dont have an odometer (doesnt work) ALl i know is i put in a half tank and get about 3 days of driving out of it. I drive around a bit but not much. And vortex doesnt promote cis.

Did some searching on tex, found out that the EPA ratings for the 2.0 16V are 19 city 26 highway and 22 avg. Thats not that good dude.

well i drive my 16v just about everyday and i know for a fact that i get 500 out of a full tank.

the tex doesn't support cis because most people would rather tear it out and go with mega squirt or something along those lines. look around the tex for wackyrabbitracer or petertong, they can help you with better gas milage and more power out of cis.

I was searching around the CIS technical forum. Seems there's the little screw on the FD and it adjust's the lean and richness. That and timing seems to be about it. Don't really wanna mess with my timing though.
