FS: 1990 325ic 5sp Vert
Yes, this is the same carI had for sale last spring. Most potential buyers were concerned about not being able to pass emissions with the hot cam and head (or wanted the performance bits for a track car) so I have just spent about $2100 for a professionally installed rebuilt stock head/cam... the car just this morning did a "fast pass" on MD emissions, so it's running clean and should pass emissions anywhere now.
The head replacement also seemed to cure the issue I was having with some oil being forced into the intake ...I've not noticed any oil usage since the head job (and much useage would have shown up on the emissions test.)
The mods (most within the couple of years):
Eibach Pro-Kit springs
Bilstein Sport struts
Borbet 15x7 rims (Conti Extreme Contact V-rated all season tires../75% worn)
Original rims with brand new Yoko AVS ES100
Fresh head, Water pump under a year old
Cold air intake and shield (have most of the original), 19# Ford injectors Ireland Engineering polished stainless catback exhaust
Modern stereo/12 disc changer in trunk (was running XM through a cassette adapter, but moved the XM receiver)
New cap, rotor, wires, plugs
The good:
low miles (about 140k)
AC blows cold
cruise works great
clean CARFAX (I bought it in 2003 with 54k on it... so the vast majority of the miles are ours and are highway)
original paint (one quarter may have had some minor paintwork) so nothing hidden
almost always inside
no rust or rust bubbles (minor surface rust at paint chips, tan interior in decent shape (not perfect) and heated seats work
recent battery
runs, drives, and handles very well
The bad:
Original paint (so a 15 year collection of minor imperfections. Few chips and minor dings here and there. Small minor respray on one quarter. Third brake light touched up poorly. Paint needs to be polished regularly; dulls out if ignored... )
Original top (top is decent with just a couple of minor wear holes) The rear window is clear vinyl from a crafts store velcroed in... might not pass inspection in some states but is usable. I can have the top locally replaced for $1100
$5000 or near offer.
fnader dot com /images (sorry, my website is kind of broken)
I will also be selling the ported and polished head, Schrick 288 cam/rockers/springs (about 4000 miles on the head/cam), M30 AFM, Ford 19# injectors, Dinan chip for $1200..
I like this car so well I might sell my stock '98 M3 vert instead and keep it... advise if you're intrested in a very low mile 5sp clean E36M3 vert for about $18k.
