    WTB cheap E30 in SoCal

Looking for a cheap ($600-ish) E30 in SoCal. Planning to convert it into an ultra low-buck race car. Almost got an 89 325i but the seller got cold feet and decided to keep the car.

Only qualifications are that it has to be a decent runner and be a 5-speed. The only model that I wouldn't want is an early 318, but apart from that, 325/e/i/is doesn't matter. Smog legality, exterior and interior condition are unimportant as long as it runs decently. Brake/tire condition is also unimportant as they will be changed.

I know it's a longshot here since this is an enthusiast site where everyone values their cars, and I've been watching Craigslist, but if anyone has a lead, let me know!

    Thanks!

Damn, you're about a week too late. I had a strong running eta 5 speed I sold last weekend that would have made a perfect cheap racecar. I'll keep an eye out for ya. :)

Picked up an 87 325e for $400, so no longer need a car. Thanks!

I've got an 89 325iS. No motor though and it has some rust. $150 and it's yours. Has Eibach springs on it too I think.

How much would it cost to put in a new motor and remove the rust?

If it was rust free I'd be all over that shit.
