Best of luck with the sale.
Find somebody you trust in new hampshire. Have them "buy" it and get the federal title exempt b/s. Then "buy" it from them. and be sure to reward them handsomely for being so trustworthy and using their time.

7k e30 touring + 1k shipping + $750 to nice guy in NH = $8750 clean m30 swapped e30 touring from lebanon in your driveway without the federalization process or fees taking away your euro goodies.

Actually in NH ANY car over 15 years old is "title exempt". All you need is a bill of sale and a VIN verification form (meaning the car needs to go to a inspection shop for VIN verification).

This means that yes, if you can get it to NH and it is more than 15 years old you don't have to worry about a title, but then you are left with a car with NO title, just registration.

Selling it to someone in NH is EASY, other states I'm not sure. However when the car turns 26 years old you can get antique/classic title.

Oh and you CANT get a title if the car is 15 years old. State won't even consider it unless you are transferring title.

BOTH of my E30's are in under the rule - one is a Touring and then my iX I bought from a wholesaler that didn't have title.

I don't know about the title exempt law in other states but in RHode island if the car is older than 10 years old the state doesn't require a title for it, to register the car. In this case it doesn't apply though, because the e30 tourings were never imported to north america you will not have a legal vin # so you can't register it without going through federalization. Trust me when I say I've looked into it. When I bought my touring I looked into importing one and buying non legal ones and registering them. Without federalizing one you will have a car that you can't register or insure. It is a PITA but that is the only way. Trust me you won't fool the DMV, it isn't worth it to risk it either.

              Just my

              Ryan

              P.S. - beautiful touring!!!!!
