    WTB: E30 driver in Oregon

Hey guys I'm looking for an E30 preferably a 325i or is 2 door with manual trans that can be a daily driver part time fun car while I'm in college. I live in eastern Oregon, Prairie City to be exact, however I go to Bend often and should be heading through Portland here soon.

My maximum price range will be around $1500-2k, but then that also depends on how much gas I have to burn between now and getting the car (my truck is a pig).

If anyone is interested I do have a truck load of Harley Davidson/Aermacchi parts that I can offer up as trading material. These are from the 60's 250 and 350 sprint bikes, I picked them up awhile ago from a guy that use to race them. There is about enough there to be about 80-90% there on building a bike and still having a ton of spares to keep things going.

Ok forgive my ignorance still trying to get a hold on all the BMW stuff (grew up in a Porsche house). 535iA? Is that a 535i with an auto? Never really been a huge fan of the 5 series, I like the smaller bodied cars for the most part. I suppose anything is possible at the right price though. And actually the more I look at that body style the more I'm liking them, its the earlier ones I really do not like.

yeah I saw that 325E but WAY out of my price range right now.

Edit: holy smokes did a google search for "1991 BMW 535iA" and most of the first 2 pages that came up were recall information. Were there that many problems with these cars?

was it just the autos that were problematic or the manuals also? not that i'm seeing any manual transmission ones for sale.

just the autos. from what i understand they were made by GM. they didnt build them with a valve to recirculate the trans fluid while the car was sitting at a stop. so while youre waiting for the red light, the fluid pressure would build and destroy the trans.

if youre interested i know of a 535 5spd for sale. green on dark tan. gotta verify the mileage etc though.

yeah if you could get me some info on that 535 manual that would be great from what I'm seeing they are great road cars. With me living 2-3 hours from anywhere, that could be nice. granted I'd more then likely still be on the hunt for an e30 coupe as my "fun car" at that point.

Dude, get off your high horse.

I have a customer that is getting rid of a 120k black/black E34 535, he overheated the motor.
I have another 3.5 liter, so for about 2000 or so, someone could have quite a nice E34 535i Auto.

E30s and E34s are NOT that different, and probably, reasonably, not far from what this guy is looking for.

                  So, blah.

oh man Funkmasta if only the 535i you were talking about was a manual I would be all over that, I'm starting dig the look of a black 535 E34. I just way prefer a manual transmission to an automatic, its just a preference that grew on me while working at Sunset Imports out in Beaverton. If I still lived in the city I might be more inclined to consider an auto, but living in an area of open roads manual is what I'd prefer.

Thanks though for getting me to look at another body to consider.

Any other leads on a E30 with manual trans?
