I am located in San Diego (La Jolla, to be more specific), so anyone in the area interested is welcome to come see the car. I've sold two cars on this board before, and have had to ship both, so I don't see why I wouldn't ship again.
I bought this car in December 2006 as an Arizona car. Not sure how long the PO had it in Arizona, but I had it there until this May, and now it is a California car. I've never spotted rust on the car, or even considered that there is rust on the car.
2001 BMW 530i sport (5/01 build)
black on tan
automatic (Steptronic)
122,000 miles **see note below**
heated seats
Bilstein sport shocks
20-25mpg
**At 85,000 miles, the previous owner sucked water into the motor, resulting in hydrolock. The motor was replaced by my friend who is the master tech at one of the dealerships in the Scottsdale area. New motor had roughly 25,000 miles on it, meaning it now has around 55,000 miles.
The car has been taken care of by Bavarian Motorwerks in Chandler, AZ, and Marco Polo BMW in La Jolla, CA.
December 2007, new brake pads, rebuilt all calipers
New rear tires at 111,000 (fronts have a few thousand left on them)
Latest oil change at 113,000 (I use synthetic 5w-30, every 5-7k miles)
New brake booster/fluid at about 110,000 miles
New fuel filter at 115,000 miles
December 2007, the car received Bilstein Sports. Handling and ride quality is exceptional.
Spring 2006, the car was given a new radio display unit under extended warranty from BMW. All the pixels in every display work.
The interior is treated with Leatherique every 6 months, and is one of the cleanest and most well kept interiors you'll see of a car this age. Compliments are endless. Driver's seat is understandably showing age, but still has no rips or tears. Some of the wood trim is cracked, although you can only tell visually, not by touch. The wood piece that surrounds the shifter has warped on the left and right sides, but is not to the point of necessary replacement.
Only interior modification I have done is to replace the US sliding armrest with a Euro/M5 fixed armrest/compartment. In the compartment I have snaked through a BSW iPod adapter from the trunk, so all your music is easily controllable. To further enhance the music experience, I have installed BSW's Stage I speaker package (Dreamline I think is the name of the higher end speakers that they offer, and that is what's in the car).
In the trunk, I have added a cargo net for larger items, and a Euro (?) compartment on the right hand side, which had originally been empty space. Also in the trunk is an Infinity Basslink II subwoofer/amp. Please visit Infinity's site for more info, I forget all the specs. I didn't need a ghetto blaster, so I went with something that would take up very little space, yet fill in the much needed lack of bass that the stock BMW system produced.
Extra items included are: stock spare wheel/tire, jack, jumper cables, a nearly complete tool kit
The exterior of the car has had it's share of bad luck, but overall, the paint is still in good shape. The hood and front bumper are littered with bug/stone chips. It was like this when I bought the car, and I've tried to protect it with a car bra for long roadtrips. If you have cash to blow, repainting those front two pieces would be the best route to making the car look a whole lot better. The only other paint damage besides up front is on the trunk. It was keyed a few months ago, resulting in a 12" mark along the left side. This can be seen in the photos.
If you have any questions, please feel free to PM/email me. Anything I've forgotten or left out I'll add as I go.
$8,000 OBO
