FS - 1991 Mtech Ii Cabrio

    Hi,

I have a REAL MTECH II cabrio for sale. For those of you who know, the cars were only made from 1991 - 1992 and 145 were produced. There were only 3 colours made in that time, white, silver, and calypso red. These cars all came automatic transmission and automatic roof. A very rare E30.

In talking with other MTECH II owners, I have learnt that there are legends/stories of 6 so called special order E30 MTECH II cars. These cars were produce in Diamond Schwartz - 181 colour code. I have 1 of the 6 Diamond Schwartz for sale.... yes... and I have dealer papers to prove it.

I rescued this car from Florida, just outside Miami. The previous owner neglected the car and let it sit for 1.5 yrs before deciding to sell it. Here's what I've done to the car in the last 6 months since I've had it...

    1 - replace transmission
2 - repaint the entire car in Diamond Schwartz 181 colour code
    3 - new convertible roof
4 - new roof arm puller and lever
    5 - new tires ( 225/50/15 -Khumo AST
    6 - put in E30 M3 steering rack
    7 - valve adjustment
8 - new IE stage 3 springs and Bilstein sport shocks
    9 - new shifter lever
10 - replaced the dash with a mint used one
    11 - full tune up
12 - timing belt, water pump, tensioner
13 - installed Kenwood folding deck ( will not be sold with the car )
14 - new brembo cross drilled rotors and PBR deluxe pads
15 - professionally painted calipers red
    16 - Dinan floor mats
    17 - new trunk shocks
    18 - new battery
19 - oil change, tranny flush, diff. fluid flush, coolant flush
20 - custom machined rear 30 mm spring perches to avoid rubbing
21 - depo smiley lights ( came with the car )
22 - smoked front turn signal markers ( came with the car )
23 - smoked rear tail lights ( came with the car )
    24 - full professional detail

The car is CLEAN... no rust, leaks, roof seals are excellent, interior is black leather - 7.5/10 - normal bolster wear, tinted windows, paint is FRESH - 1 month old. The car has roughly 97K miles or 160 K km's.... when I registered the car they wrote down 122K km's...

    What else I was planning to do if I kept this car longer ;

    1 - new sportmax rims and tires 16 x 8
2 - install the windscreen - comes with sale
3 - buy 1 MTECH II clip from the dealer for side molding
4 - buy windshield wiper cap for passenger side arm

that's really about it... the car is UBER SEXY and I don't have the time to drive it as much as I like, plus I am buying a condo this year, so toys have to go...

I have full receipts of my work and I have the car fax and delaer papers. The car fax shows mileage issue as the previous owner put in an E30 M3 cluster and did not record the correct mileage. I have the original cluster as well.

    asking $16,500.00 or best offer

serious buyers only - no test pilots, tire kickers...

you need some mad pictures man... selling something with such high profile and no picture makes it more like a scam than a real car, post some pics. Other than the fact that its in toronto and needing to go through customs makes it slim on potential buyers.

Their are two ways to verify an original M Tech car. 1) Give the production date 2) have the vin run (through BMW's database) & post it in this ad (Aaron, on this board, provides this service -
http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...&highlight=vin). I would think you would want to offer these in light of what you say you have & the asking price, after all, you are well into E30M3 pricing.

There are great differences between the '91 cars (full M Technic package, 145 built in SILVER, red & blue) & the '92 cars, (M Technic appearance package only) 1000 built in white only. The full M Technic package in '91 was @$4500 more than the M Technic appearance package in '92.

Pictures & complete documentation are a must. I would suggest you post it on other BMW boards & place an ad in Roundel. When R3v members see this price, they think it is for a litter of E30's - not one very rare car.

i have seen a few black m-technic appearance cabrio's in the lower mainland, they must be either 91 or 92 they all have the standard white leather with white outside or the black leather with black interior. the cars that came in blue, red and silver (i believe there interiors were completely diff.) are extremely rare and have never seen one up here in the lower mainland

Their are a few black ones running around (more than the OP says) but they were supposedly only sold in Canada - yet he IS in Canada & found this one in Florida. If this is the car I think it is, it was on Craigslist quite a while & might have even been on ebay. Waiting for the poster to add pictures & a vin - then the story will get longer, or start to unravel.

                    Hi,

Sorry for my ignornace with the first post... there's been a HUGE debate on E30tech, however, I have learned a lot... it's not 1 of 6, however, there were 59 produced in black... 46 in white.. but, to this date, no one has proved to me that this is apperance versus mtechinc....

                    here's my VIN

                    925 SHIPPING PROTECTION PACKAGE

the only REAL way, to my knowledge, to tell the difference to see if one had the upgraded MTECHNIC suspension is to measure the rear sway bar as it's 14.5 mil.

my friend ( at the dealer ) and I looked up 10 -12 VIN's from another E30IC site which were supposed to be all " true " MTECH II's... however, some of the VIN's didn't list package options 771 or 770... and when we did look up VIN's that were MTECH II ( from an owner on E30tech ) the VIN brought up the same part numbers as my VIN... but never referenced any MTECHNIC specific parts...

now, to go one step further a sweedish website was posted up and it had 771 and 770 listed as USA cars and the euro MTECHNIC do have M SPORT and M EXECUTIVE listed in the VIN's...

so... with out further a due.... here are the pics...

it's OBO... so don't be shy

The car is a Appearance Package. I have owned 3 M Tech 2 Verts: 1 white auto, 1 white 5speed, and 1 silver auto.

The Performance package cars : RED, SILVER, & BLUE
The obvious- 15 weaves, M tech cloth interior, m tech door sills, tags, leather wrapped door pulls, consoles, dash...
                          And suspension upgrades...

The Appearance Package: White & Black
The appearance package is basically the body kit and color matched wheels. The white cars came with a white leather interior( heated seats) and white 14inch weaves. The black came with black interior. Both cars have normal e30 interiors and nothing special.
Some Appearance Packages came in a rare 5 speed manual.

                          Here's a pic of my old M Tech 2 1992 5speed:

It is an appearance package, but still more than $5k.
