    FS feeler. my 240sx. RB25DET, GT3076R, etc.

    Year/Make/Model: 1997 240sx.. FEELER.

    Location: oakland Michigan.

    Price: 14,000

    Mileage: 51k.

    -------------

well, this isnt for certain, but i'd like to figure out what im going to do.

that being said, some of you know my car. its a '97 240sx SE. SE meaning it has leather seats, 5 lug, VLSD, white face gauges. mileage on the engine is unknown. mileage on the car itself, is just over 51k.

whats done to it you ask?

    MOTOR:

    -Nissan skyline R33 S1 RB25DET engine/trans.
    -Mckinney motor/trans mounts.
    -Mckinney driveshaft.
-Koyo S14 radiator with Samco hoses.
    -Greddy VSPL FMIC.
    -Greddy intake manifold.
    -Greddy timing belt.
    -Greddy catch can.
    -Tial blow off valve.
-APEXi N1 Dual tip 3" catback exhaust.
    -OEM nissan RB water pump.
    -N1 RB oil pump.
    -Infiniti Q45 throttle body.
    -Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump.
-3" downpipe and custom WG dump.
    -GT3076R .63a/r.
    -Tial 38mm wastegate.
-SSA T3 topmount manifold. no issues thus far.

    ELECTRONICS:
-AEM EMS, and temp sensor. MAP sensor.
    -AEM wideband O2 sensor.
    -APEXi AVC-R electronic boost controller.
    -APEXi turbo timer and harness.
-DEFI BF- boost, egt, and oil pressure gauges with control module.
    -LS auto recalibrated tachometer.
    -battery relocator kit.

    TRANSMISSION:
    -Fidanza 10lb flywheel.
-RPS 6 puck sprung clutch. rated to 520 lb/ft of torque.

    WHEELS/SUSPENSION/BRAKES:
-STANCE GR+ PRO full coilovers with traction springs.
-Wilwood Superlite 4pot big brake kit w/ 13" GT rotors. (front)
-Brembo blanks, oem pads, agency power SS lines. (rear)

    EXTERIOR:
    -USDM kouki lip.
    -JDM kouki rear bumper.
    -JDM kouki rear valences.
    -JDM kouki front grille.
    -Klight 4300K H4 HID kit.
    -Seibon CF trunklid.

    EXTRA CRAP:
    -Alpine CDA9856 head unit.

    Parts not listed/sold seperately.
-Nissan 300zx turbo rear calipers. $150 obo.
-Kics project 25mm and 10mm wheel spacers. $150 obo.
    -Seibon CF hood. $350.
    -Work VSXX 17x8 +22/+32. $1000.
-AEM/Nismo afpr kit. (new, never used) $300 obo.
-Deatschwerks 650 RB25 injectors. (never used). $500 obo.

    THE BAD:
-slight grind in high RPM shifts to 5th. internal parts are compatible with 300zx N/A trans.
-burns oil. im fairly certain it is due to a few bad valve seals.
-PS pump has started to whine. prob something simple.
-cracked windshield. i can have it replaced for $250 via insurance claim.
-the car has some small quirks. no windshield wiper sprayers. no cruise, no reverse lights, no horn, and the windshield wipers are janky.

    THE GOOD:

-the car made 453whp on the monkey wrench dyno at 15psi.
-the engine was wired and installed by Alex. (LS1 S13 guy). he knows the car better than i do.
-ive done NONE of the work myself. its all been done by Alex, or the guys at monkey wrench.
-the car hauls ass. i took it for a spin today. boost controller turned off, 2nd gear is all over the place.

WHY i want to get rid or it?
-not 100% sure i do at this point. its fun, and the power is addicting. with bigger injectors, 500whp is right around the corner. i would prefer to toss in new rods and pistons first though.

    WITH SALE:
-the car would be on the stock 16" wheels with Avon tires. assuming they fit over the brakes.
-it would also have the stock hood put back on.

the car was a roller when i bought it in early 2005. ive since, spent roughly $30,000 on it. and while it may not seem apparent, ive paid to have everything done. with a pro detail, it could look really, really good IMO.

you have all seen the pictures, but here we go again.

since purchasing the car in '05, i have not even put 10,000 miles on it.. im just not inlove with the car like i thought i was back then. i want something closer to stock, that i can drive every day. something more grown up, and european.

like i said, i am looking to get somewhere in the neigborhood of $14k for it, without wheels or CF hood. more would be better. but the thing isnt perfect. it is however, a great starting point for someone to take the car to another level entirely. the car gets ALOT of attention from people of all sorts. young kids, to old muscle car guys. its always good attention, too. ive been pulled over 1 time in the car, and was only issued a warning.

keep in mind, this is a feeler. im not 100% sold on the idea of getting rid of it. just looking for criticism and input. but if i have someone that really wants it, it might go bye-bye. anyhow, thanks for taking a look.

14 grand for a car with a tranny thats going out and an engine with unknown mileage that needs a top end? that seems little optimistic, especially without the nice wheels and cf hood.

im assuming the type of person that would buy it would rip it apart and build it bigger, and stronger. valve seals are relatively simple. i am staying optimistic. the next step is a rebuild with all forged components. im just not willing to make that investment. for someone that wants to do that, this is an excellent starting point. the motor is in the car and running, it has a full, $2000 stand alone, big brakes and full coilovers. someone shooting beyond what the car currently is, can save ALOT of money buying this car to use as a starting point.

      i appreciate your concern though.

I don't know what an R2D2C3PO. All I know is I wouldn't pay 14 large for car that has one unless the whole drivetrain was tight as a drum. He solicited for input and I gave it.

yeah, but that motor can be had for fairly cheap. like s50 prices...

i say get the car to tip-top shape then try to sell it...theres not a very good market rite now for used cars, probably even worse for project cars over $10K/

I've been around Nissans since I was 16, and I can say there is a market for RB swaps in S14's. This particular forum may not be the right medium for a buyer, but I am almost willing to bet you'd see somewhere around $10k on ebay "IF" you leave the wheels and hood as part of the deal.

Cosmetically the car looks great, and you'll need to use that to your advantage, and also as your main selling point, since it does need mechanical work. As mentioned the RB25's are now more readily imported than in years past, installing the drive train is pretty striahgt forward and has been documented by many S14 veterans.

What hurts you is that the motor needs a rebuild, and the tranny grinds. The futur owner will have to invest time/some money or send it out to a shop and spend a lot of $$$ to fix those issues.

If I were in your place, I'd fix all the small quirks. Get the new windshield, fix all the small electrical issues especially the reverse lights and wipers. Even though those fixes may seem minor to you, anyone looking to spend $10k or more for this type of car will most likely be turned off if they need to invest work into the motor, tranny, and then tend to random issues.

yeah, i was thinking about that. i may just start to fix the little stuff. the motor does not need a rebuild. but if i want to go for more power, i'd do it. new valve seals, rebuild trans and have it cryo treated. if i had room and tools, i'd just part it out. but i think ill start by fixing the little stuff. thanks.

i think im gonna price a trans rebuild + cryo treatment. then forged rods + pistons. add my bigger injectors and FPR, and max the turbo somewhere in the low 500 whp range. maybe ditch the wheels for something cheaper with alot more rubber. lots of idead running around in my head right now.
