For those that don't know, it looks just as good in person.

Sorry to see her go my friend.

Wasnt this car turboed before, and what happened to the beautiful glossy black hardtop?
Did you part out the turbo and sell the hardtop seperately?

Yup. I had the car for sale for months and months with the turbo and hardtop with no interest. I sold off the turbo setup and sold the hardtop, now time for the car to go aswell.
I have a buyer looking at it on sunday, we will see what happens!

Sorry to see you selling this. Before I figured you were entertaining selling it with everything intact and if you didn't get your asking you'd just keep it. Now I see you're forced to take it the rest of the way. :( Good luck with your sale man, your cabrio is the car to which all other MTechs should aspire.

                  Tim

PS I hope business is treating you well.

I don't mean to rain on your parade as I am happy that you sold your car and have found a new owner for you pride and joy....but.......what you have just sold is NOT an ///M-Technic car. It was sold new as a "Special Edition", which shared the same bodywork as the "official" ///M-Technic convertible. The real ///M-Technic convertible came in Silver, Red, and Blue and had the ///M-Technic cloth and Napa leather door pulls, center console, and side bolsters, 15" 4x100 basketweaves, and Motorsport suspension.

The "special edition" had the ///M-Technic body kit, was available in white/white with 14" basketweaves or metallic black/black napa leather with the same wheels in black. No suspension or leather accutremounts.

IIRC, ironically they both carried the same factory cost for the special edition and the ///M-Technic. I think the option for both was $3,495!!! A lot of money in the early 90's!

I worked for BMW from 1986 to 1994 and don't profess to know every little detail, but I do remember the difference between the two convertibles.

                      My $.02FWIW

                      Cheers,
                      Ron

OP is well aware of this and the car sold for a great price given the work done.
Whomever got the hardtop got the real deal

FWIW roundel did an article about Mtechs oh about a year ago and valued them at low to mid teens.

No harm intended, I am just kind old school (and old too!) and on a personal level I just like to differentiate the two models. Most folks don't do that. As for the car itself, I have seen it in person and the PO really did a nice job on the mods and very respectfully kept the car to a high standard. The new owner bought a very nice car. Again, no harm intended!
