    I'd make sure the engine is in good shape. M42s are reliable if they're maintained well... time-bomb if not.

    Oh, and you won't get 30mpg... well maybe on the freeway at ~55mph. EPA was 19/26 (I get 24-25 combined usually).

        Thanks for the link. According to that chart, there was no 318i in 1992.

        However, I have been looking at this car here:



        Which is a 1992 318i convertible with a M40B18 - an engine which isn't listed at all on that chart.

        So you can see how I might be confused. Does the C stand for convertible? Or does it have some extra designation when applied for the convertible?

              That car has an M42... M40 wasn't offered in the states (thank god).

                    If that is the same car from the picnic, it is fucking hot. I wouldn't pay the full asking price without the BBS wheels though. Still, it was a super clean car when I saw it.

                          the seller just reposted his ad. I called him and he didnt answer, but this time he called right back. I am now back in the running towards being this car's next owner. hope it works out.
