    VA: 1990 325i coupe 5-speed

    1990 325i 5-speed coupe- Yorktown, Virginia

    Black/Tan
    “is” trunk spoiler
    Alpine CD player
    MB Quart speakers
    Bavarian autosport mats
    Clifford alarm system
    Yokohama Avid tires (90% tread)
    Hamann (authentic) shift knob
    214k.
    Asking price: $2500

Hey guys-- have been lurking around the forum for a few years now and it looks like the day has come.

The car runs well, and has a pretty kick-ass stereo system. The drivers side vinyl seat is starting to show its age (see pictures), and the car is due for a new set of shocks. Aside from a few minor dings/scratches the car cleans up very well (dirty in the pictures). Third owner (BMWCCA), clean title, maintained through bmw master tech. Shoot as many questions as you guys need, I'll do my best to get back with you quickly.

    Thanks,

    Collin

Is there any rust anywhere? and how long do you think it will go before the shocks HAVE to be replaced?

      Thanks,
      Mitch

No known rust, with the exception of a paint chip on the leading edge of the hood about the size of your pinkie finger. front shocks are clearly bouncy. still drives well, but I would replace the shocks soon after purchase if I were the buyer.

Any other mechanical issues or repairs that need immediate attention?

When was the t-belt last changed? What kind of recent maintenance has the car had?

How is the paint and body? Any other surface rust other than the front of the hood?

Timing belt probably has about 40k mi on it now. Only work on it has been to change oil about every 3-5k mi. Use Castrol synthetic. Had fluids in trans and differential replaced within the past year. Has good brake pads (PBR's), although the rotors had some rust due to car not being driven for a number of months. Recently bled the brakes. Paint is generally good. There is one place on the trunk where it looks as if the trunk was closed with something that left a slight bump in the trunk lid - not particularly noticeable however. Chrome trim around winds has been sprayed black with high quality german paint, but there are a few nicks where the chrome shows through.

                rust on rotors

Rust accumulated on them due to not being driven. I have since been driving it, and there has been a slight bit of noise when I apply the brake. Has gotten better with driving, so seems tobe temporary. Pads are in good shape, as are the rotors, so the noise is likely caused by the rust wearing off due to contact with the pads.

Got to this one a little late but it is awesome to see another Yorktown e30. Is this the one I used to always see parked in the driveway with like 5 other BMWs down by the Moore House?

Lol-- yeah that's the one! For the first time in I don't know how long we have a somewhat bmw-free driveway. Whereabouts in Yorktown are you from?
