    WTB: E30 Vert DC/MD/VA

Hey everyone. First time posting here. Been searching for some time now for an e30 vert in the Washington, DC area. Ideally looking for a 5 speed with a budget up to $9,000.

Mileage isn't a deal-breaker if it has been cared for.

Any insights/leads from the group would be great.

    Thanks!

From CL: Not a 5-speed but price is great and the car looks promising. Could be a swap candidate if you really like it. If your budget is $9K and you get this for $3600, you will have a good amount left for a 5-speed swap, interior, top, and other maintenance and repair items.

I had the same issue in FL, I looked for months and could not find a nice 5-speed. Eventually I bought an auto and swapped it. It cost me $3K for the swap with tons of new parts, and I love the car now.

You should expand your search and prepare to travel to buy a car. I remember looking in the DC area for a while without success. There are nice E30s in the area, but they don't seem to come up for sale very often.

I was just browsing the forums and saw this.

I have one, in NJ, outside of Philly. It’s either a ‘90 or ‘91. 5 speed manual. My dad bought it about 15 years ago. He redid the leather, I think had the the soft top replaced, got it repainted the same color, red. Was never in an accident under our ownership, paint was just faded. He gave it to me as a birthday present about 3 years ago. For the last 10 years it has pretty much sat in a garage with a cover on plugged into a trickle charger. I leave it in the garage with a cover on from fall to spring and leave it outside in the summer. Original clutch. I drive it maybe 500-1000 miles a year.

odometer says something around 100k miles. It stopped working earlier in my dad’s ownership. I think my mom dd’d it to work for 2-3 years. Then it just sat and taken out occasionally.

It’s never been “restored” per say, just kept up on maintenance. So it’s definitely not a show car, more like a nice driver.

My wife hates it. And my daughter starts crying with the top down because of the wind. So time to go.

issues - twice in the last three years I had the throttle stick on me at idle. I just had to kind if force it. Hasn’t happened this year, I’m assuming it the throttle cable.
AC stopped blowing cold air when I took it out of the garage a few weeks ago. I can hear something going on when I push the button. Never had a problem with it. I think it might need a charge. Not sure.
Some of the rubber trim around the soft top and windows is cracking and probably could use replacement.

I don’t know what it’s worth to be honest but we could come up with something fair.
