Selling a fully rebuilt BMW M20 cylinder head. This is an “885 casting” but made by aftermarket company AMC. This head is ideal for a buyer looking for a stock-ish head not a highly modified option.
Work done includes full disassembly, oil galley plugs removed (if applicable), washing, bead blasting, washing again, pressure test, old valve guides removed, new bronze guides sized for correct length and press fit retaining concentricity, installed with dry ice and heat, and ID sized to correct clearance with a carbide reamer and diamond hone, brand new valves with a back cut for improved flow, valve stem installed height measured and tips ground to remain within factory specs, 3 angle valve job on the seats with carbide cutter, oil galleys tapped for new NPT plugs and installed (if applicable), deck resurfaced, all threads chased and cleaned, all cam and rocker/lifter journals are polished, head washed again, springs checked and shimmed if necessary, full assembly with new seals, except rockers and cam. This head will outperform a stock head thanks to the back cut valves, better tolerances, and the 3 angle valve job.
If the buyer desires, new rocker arms can be installed along with the cam of choice for the extra cost of parts and labor. Cost is $900 as it sits plus a $200 core fee. If the buyer sends me a good, rebuildable 885 core, the cost would then be $900. If no core, than $1100.
