    Glass Moonroof, Slider, & Hardware - $500

In the 10+ years I've been collecting E30 parts this is the nicest Moonroof I have come across and I have had 4 other ones. There are no scratches or defects on the glass and the seals are good.

The slider is intact and complete with the black plastic panel. The plastic panel needs a minor repair on the back edge where it has cracked loose, but isn't important and can't be seen. Some moonroofs don't have the slider anyway and of the ones that do many of the black plastic panels are long gone. The fabric isn't too bad and the worn places are mostly hidden buy the headliner anyway. If you want to recover the panel using the fabric from your old panel it's easy and I have done it many times installing Saab moonroofs into E28s.

It comes with the two correct cable covers that most moonroofs didn't even have when new. I have a feeling that only the cars that got the glass panel at the factory had these covers and the panels that were dealer installed didn't get them. I had one other set of the covers and they were on a wrecked car I bought from the original owner. It was a Euro delivery car picked up at the factory.

Shipping cost won't be too bad and I do know how to package it to prevent it from being damaged. Local pick up is fine.

The other 4 moonroofs I sold on eBay and they went for between $450 and $805. This one is nicer than those other 4 were. I am going to sell it for $500. I might consider a trade or part trade with a local guy for a set of E30 after market rims. Sooner or later I will stick it on eBay even though I really hate eBay.

If you want to contact me please use e-mail and not a PM. My gmail account mixes all the stupid PMs into the same folder. germancarsonly@gmail.com

Hey, how do you retrofit this into an e30 with a (metal) sunroof?

It uses the same 6 bolts to hold it to the cars brackets that the metal panel uses. The two cable covers in the photo replace the ones for the metal roof and while you have them off the car you can slip in the slider panel. That's it. Pretty simple.

Thanks for the quick reply. Very promising. :D

How heavy is this compared to the metal sunroof?
And, is the glass tinted? Or it's just dark that way?

            Thanks!

The slider handle is the same one used on the Saab glass moonroofs and they are pretty easy to find. The ones I have seen are beige rather then black. I don't have any spares.

It could be just a little heavier than the metal panel, but not more than a pound or two. The glass is tinted a medium dark gray and it's a mirrored glass.

Any Idea on where to find a Saab Handle? Thanks for that tip by the way I didn't know that

Maybe I can find one for you today or tomorrow as I'm making the rounds of the local yards. I will also grab a pair of the sun roof rail covers to compare with the moon roof ones for you.

The Saab glass moon roofs are pretty common and they interchange with the E28 sun roof. Even though I have always been an E30 guy I have had a few E28s also. The factory E28 BMW moon roof is much harder to find than the E30 moon roof.

BTW - I have measured every European car I have seen and none of the glass panels will interchange with the E30. It's just a fluke that the Saab and the E28 use the same size panel and it's not quite the same contour, but works if you adjust it correctly.

Yea if you could find a saab handle for me I'd buy it off you. I need it badly for the installation of my moonroof. It's almost time to do the final instal and I need a handle for my new slider. PM me if you find one at the yard

Didn't know these went for that much. To think, I have a mint one just lying around.

They use to go for between $450 and $800 when in at least good condition. But, as I can see from the lack of interest in this one they maybe aren't selling for that much now.

                            Bruce,

How do you feel about some 15" BBS RA's? Any interest?

If you're interested in Kosei K1s with good tires, let me know. I'd like a moonroof, but don't want to spend all that mula :).
