it will will work fine either way, only real difference is blanks for the crank sensors are drilled out in this one as opposed to the later trans where its just solid aluminum. I personally have done 3 5speed swaps putting early transmissions to "i" motors.

only other usual hurdle is guys will buy the trans with the big output shaft and not realize they got a driveshaft made for a small output. This one is all complete and matches up.
