Question: my pigtail end to the car has a different type of connector (2 large prongs in a yellow housing). Would your sensor fit in it? I cannot tell...

Yes. Your connector is 20 years old - it's most likely corroded on the inside. (copper + oxygen = green fuzzy stuff) - so.....if you still have the connector, it most likely won't give good results, and can be the source of a lot of problems. By bass the connector and your golden.
