    Feeler: Dome Light Delay Fix?

I figured out today how to fix most dome light delay problems.

Lifeiskaos' was doing something funny, almost working but not quite, and mine never even hinted at working so I gave it a shot and figured out how I could make it work.

What I'd like to know is if anyone would be interested in having a modified relay that would make the dome lights delay again for something like 15 dollars? This would be a whole replacement modified relay, tested and ready for drop-in installation and should work in almost all cases.

I'll probably post a writeup when I go to fix lifeiskaos' anyway, but I just wondered if anyone would rather just buy one and not have to deal with making the modification themselves.

    Video demonstrating correct(?) functionality:

So that's that, let me know what you think.

What "delay" are you talking about exactly? the stock one where it shuts off when you close the door? Never had a problem in mine.

George Graves sells a dimmer effect setup already.

No the light stays on for 6 seconds after you close the door and then shuts off. It also shuts off immediately after you start the car. I think it was an option from the dealer, mine still works.

Most E30s came with a delay timer so that the dome lights stay on after the driver's door is closed. Putting the key into run position interrupts it so you don't drive blind.

The E30s that do not come with that always have heated mirrors/locks from what I've read.

I know george graves sells a dimmer set up, but it's not stock and it also costs 50 dollars. It's better than the stock set up is, and of course, you get what you pay for with it. This is intended to restore stock functionality.

Yeah, so far, I've only had responses from two people whose dome lights still work, but for the most part, I think they're all broken. For a year or more, I didn't even know that they were supposed to do this!

Are you sure that is true? I thought the winter package included heated mirrors. If you have heated seats, you have the winter package and I have heated seats, along with the auto shut off light.

Hahaha do you want mine to be broken? If mine breaks I'll let you know, but as of right now, my heated seats, heated mirrors, lsd and light delay work (knock on wood).
