Hey man I don't mean to crap on your thread, but FYI I picked up the Yakima equivalent with locks, keys, and a ski rack for 40 bucks. It was a smokin deal, but food for thought if you're lookin to move that rack, glws!

People this rack was not designed to fit cars with rain gutters like E30s. This rack was made specifically to fit 1985 -1992 VW Golf/Jettas. It is also one of the rare Thule racks that one would buy complete in a box from Thule. This rack will attach to cars like E30s, and 1975-1984 VW Rabbit and Jettas but will over time damage the rubber door gaskets on some cars. I know this because years ago I bought one new for a 1987 Jetta and after selling the car years ago placed it on a Rabbit where it damaged the door gaskets. If one buys this rack for an E30 do not leave the rack on for long periods or you too may damage your car. Better yet buy the correct towers for cars with rain gutters. The correct towers for OLDER cars with rain gutters are the 300 model towers with the common locking knobs. This rack would sell quickly if advertised on vwvortex.com in the Golf/Jetta2 section. Always go to thule.com and research fitment to your car before buying a Thule rack new or used.
