I'm listing this up for a friend, but it was actually my old engine that I had in my e34 before I swapped in the s52. He bought it from me to put into an e30, but has decided to go a different route.
The engine had 122k on it when I originally pulled it out of a friend's wrecked 94 325ic. Prior to installing it into my e34, a bunch of items were replaced. Here's a quick rundown of those items...
Plugs
Valve cover gasket
Water pump
Thermostat
O-rings that go into the oil filter housing
Clutch
Throw-out bearing
Pilot bearing
New spring clip for clutch release fork
New pivot pin for clutch release fork
There's probably more, but that's all I can think of at the moment.
I had the engine in my car from February 09 until October 09, at which point I yanked the m50 to put in the s52 out of my m3 parts car. For the few months I had the m50 in my car, it ran absolutely flawlessly and never gave me any issues at all. It didn't leak fluids, always fired right up, and pulled nice and hard. When I was getting ready to drop the m50 in originally, it appeared that the head had been rebuilt at some point as well. It was ridiculously clean and had some markings on some of the head components, pointing to the signs of a rebuild. I cannot prove this, but I'll try to find the pics of the markings and post them up.
Since my friend took ownership, he compiled pretty much everything he needed for the e30 swap. The sale of the engine will include:
COMPLETE m50 (Absolutely no more than 130k miles on it) with ALL accessories
New in box Raceland headers
E34 m50 oil pan and pickup (not installed yet)
Red label 413 (known working ebay chip included, not yet installed)
Driveshaft from 97 M3 sedan
ZF310 with new clutch
Brand new quibo
e36 m50 engine mount arms
Brand new e28 535i motor mounts
Brand new e34 throttle cable
Radiator necessary for the swap (can't remember if it's the e36 one or the e30 318 one, will check)
If I can think of anything else, ill post it up later.
So, pretty much all you would need to throw this in an e30 is to take care of the brake booster and wiring and you're set. Or, you could put it in an e34 or e36, and sell all of the unnecessary parts and make a decent amount of money back.
Asking price is $1,000 OBO. He's not looking to split any of it up, just looking to get rid of everything as a whole. He has another vehicle in mind that he'd like to get, so he'd like to get this thing moved pretty quickly. I can answer most of the questions you have since the engine was in my car, but if you have any questions you'd feel more comfortable asking him, his email address is... lukemillhouseenv1 at yahoo dot com
Everything is located at our garage in Reinholds, PA 17569. Delivery within a reasonable distance can be arranged, but pickup is obviously preferred. Thanks for looking!
