great debate... gear break on VDO and Motormeter at the same frequency and is caused by a retard in the driver's seat resetting odometer while driving over 40mph. I've made that mistake ones, and bitched my gf out when she made same mistake. Lubricant may have something to do with it, heat may have something to do with it, but I promise you the final blow is the reset while moving.
