Ok guys, Covenant Health just dropped a bomb of a bill on me yesterday for $2,146 to cover a PET scan that was done in JULY OF LAST YEAR! I assumed it was picked up by insurance but apparently it took them 8 months to figure it was not. Awesome eh?

Anyway I have cleaned out my garage and I need everything to GO! I needs cash BADLY. All offers considered!

Kind of a tangent, but talk to the office of the ordering provider and see if they can submit a letter declaring medical necessity for the scan. Of course if your plan doesn't cover imaging, then you're SOL.

Dr. says problem is since I'm in remission the insurance company is being bitchy about any scans this point forward even if they are considered "preventative." My next scan may only be a CT scan which is considered "enough" by insurance standards because its much cheaper than a PET scan but not as good at detecting small tumors.

This is just what I'm told. I will fight it but the lady at my work who helps with insurance claims said they are pretty much only gonna cover half.
