M90 bottom end has the same specs as the M88 and S38B35 (93.4mm Bore x 84mm Stroke) and were last produced in 1980-1981ish. US & Euro M30B34 and B35s had 92mm Bore x 86mm Stroke.

Late production E12-based E24 635csi and early production E23 735i used the M90 in conjunction with an early Motronic 1.0 basic system (002 DME I believe).

^ correct. The e12 based 635csi got this engine with motronic for one year only, and it came with the later style b35 manifold.

another way to tell is if their is a white letter L on the intake side of the block, that maybe worn off but the block should also have a longer coolant passage running about 3/4 of the way down the side rather than just a stubby one like the normal m30. I have never seen one with motronic, mine has L Jet

This is a kick ass motor, I would pick up another if it was on my coast

It is a true M90, just a late production one with motronic. it does have the 002 ecu. The m30b35 is still a 3.4 this is an actual 3.5 with higher compression, no O2 sensors or cats. Euro dirty engine. even in that pig of a 635 with an auto trans and seized calipers it got moving quite well.

How much do you estimate shipping to be for the M90 to 98230 by the cheapest way possible?

It really wouldn't be that much if you could pick it up at the border i.e. Freight Forwarding in Blaine or Beda's in Oroville.

I picked up an s52 just across from the peace arch crossing in Blaine, it cost me ~$200USD to get it shipped as freight on a palette from SoCal.

If you want to get it across the border though you will have to arrange a customs broker and pay fees for that (that is where the costs come from).

I posted my package on www.Uship.com. Small shipping companies actually make bids on what you want to ship. It takes maybe a week before you get decent bids but it is cheaper than any of the larger shipping companies, just make sure you get insurance on the package. Where in BC are you located?

This may be a shot in the dark but can i run this with an E30 harness and late B35 ecu?

im sure you could, i would think it would be similar to converting a b34 to run late motronic. probably gain some ponnies too!
