    For The Non-Smokers Out There!

I don't smoke, so my spare change ends up in the ashtray. However, the metal tabs on either side make it a little difficult to remove the change when needed, and change can make some noise when driving around. I decided to do something about it.

I removed the metal inserts, and lined the tray with felt. I am pleased with the results, and figured I would do the same to some spare ashtrays that I had to see if there was any interest.

    $14 Shipped

I did that with mine too, just didn't line the inside. Love it!

you guys ever hear of flocking? It is used with a spray adhesive and tiny felt like fibers that are then sprayed onto the adhesive. Seems like this would be a good application for it.

If my dash ever cracks again, that's what I'm going to have done to it instead of swapping in another one that will just do the same thing.

this is great, i've been meaning to do this since i took the metal tabs out of the astray a while
back, just haven't really thought of lining the inside with felt, noise reduction will be cool

Pull them out with pliers, they slide into some plastic grooves that are moulded into the ashtray.

buddy has a flocked dash in his r53.
dont think this is the right application for it though, not when you could just make inserts.

I thought about doing this, but have decided to take up smoking. Far easier.

Old news....been doing that with my e30s for years. In fact, its one of the first things I do after removing the door chime.

One of the first things I did was disconnect that god awful door chime. I'm gonna go do this to my ash tray now.
