    FS: 325ix Transfer Case

    **SOLD**

Transfer Case from a 91 325ix with around 104,000 miles. I will ship it but buyer to pay actual shipping. Just the transfer case, not the transmission or driveshaft.

It was attached to a 5 speed manual but the transmission isn't available.

People are gonna want to know whether this thing actually worked, and if you verified that it worked by jacking either the front or the rear of the car up and trying to move it, or by removing the front driveshaft and seeing if it drove. Also manual and auto transfer cases are different which is why somebody asked.

Good point, sorry about that. Yes, it worked fine before coming off the car. It was on a very clean car that had an engine fire. I had not verified it by the method you mention, but I had talked to the previous owner about the car and she said everything worked great before it caught fire.

I parted this car in a few years ago and just recently found the transfer case under my bench. Here's the old thread: http://r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=98171

Unfortunately, there's know way of knowing the condition of the VC by "it drives fine". I just went through this, twice, with supposedly working VCs, that turned out bum. Though i will say, this is a pretty good deal if the VC is working. Less than I paid for a supposedly good one.

If you can manage to get it in a car, and physically perform the jack test (and videotape it!), you might be able to get a premium. That would be my suggestion.

Wow, wish I had known all this while the car was here. Makes sense though. Any other way to verify its condition? I gotta believe it's in great shape as the car it came from was completely stock and almost flawless short of a small gas leak. Unfortunately neither of my e30s are an ix so I have no easy way of getting it in a car. I suppose I could guarantee it and refund someone if it is bad?

That sounds fair to me. In fact I'm kind of interested. Let me mull it over...
