That is not the "oil pick up", that's the oil level sensor (#11 below).

The part needed for M50 swaps is #6 in the bottom diagram.

I know that, my brother took my E30 to work because his is being worked on. Long story short I forgot to get it out of the trunk after grabbing the other parts from the garage.
