That is really screwed up.... I am the one that drove up with Andrew to look at the engine, and I loaned Andrew the $500 deposit he put down on the s50 engine. Andrew had agreed to pay 6speeddinan (Jay) his full asking price. We drove back to Portland, got a trailer and a van with a trailer hitch lined up, packed up tiedowns and lumber to use to secure the engine, and arranged another day off of work. The afternoon before we were to pick up the engine this hard-guy friend of Jay's called and says he is taking the engine and we can't have it because he blew his engine and needs it. Now today I see 6speeddinan is listing another s50 engine on craigslist that he says is in "good condition". That is no doubt the engine his friend said was "blown". I am sure it was just a high-miler, and his friend wanted the lower miles s50 that Jay had, so they lied to us and welched on the deal he had with us. He said he would return our deposit, but so far that hasn't happened.
Even in the absence of a written contract and deposit like we had, a man's handshake should be his bond. Andrew and I lost a day of work and drove for 9 hours to make this deal, and 6speeddinan bailed.
So if you see car parts being sold in Marysville, I would steer clear... it is obvious that Jay and his friend are liars...
