Most of the time I have about 9 Thule locking roof racks in my basement for older cars with raingutters. I have a very nice locking rack that was on an E30,E28, VW Rabbit/Jetta etc. $125. I have 2 racks that were on a VW Vanagon with raingutters. These 2 racks have RARE medium height locking towers and very long crossbars. One rack (2 crossbars) $150. 2 racks (4 crossbars) $250. Thule snowboard attachments $20. Would prefer local pick up on racks. You do not need to e-mail me and ask if I still have Thule racks-I always have racks for sale because I keep finding more. I bought his rack and snowboard attachment for 145, with locks and the 50" crossbars, new it would have been over 400 dollars for all of it. Good deal, nice enough guy, knows his roof racks, just doesn't like modern technology for some reason. Not going to stop me from getting a good deal. Untill yesterday I was under the impression that shipping long items was expensive. I was wrong! Fed Ex quoted me $14 to ship a Thule rack with 50 inch bars from Northampton Mass. to Bethleham Pa. As the crossbar length and weight increases so does the price but not too much. So I am more willing to ship racks. However if you live on the West coast I still do suggest you post want ads on (craigslist and r3vlimited etc) stating you are looking for a locking Thule rack to fit such and such a car. Do post where you live and how far you are willing to drive from home to pick up a rack. First measure your roof to find the length of crossbar that will make you happy. Put this info in the posting along with that you are seeking a rack that fits cars with raingutters if you own an E30. The correct towers for cars with rain gutters are the 300 model towers. Other towers may fit but they are not as sturdy and strong. If no one has what you seek within driving distance it is likely someone will have a rack for you within a few hundred miles and shipping will be cheap. Buying from me 3000 miles away should be a last resort option for west coasters. BUY local, save money but place a want ad. Also educate yourself about Thule racks at Thule.com or your local retailer before posting ad-Good luck!Comment
