We pulling the s50b32 from our car today and it will be available complete (minus oil pump/pan) next week for anyone who is looking for a project. Engine is strong, putting out 283whp stock with just the SS Race exhaust (http://www.hyboost.com/images/m3/s50b32/dyno_small.jpg)
We picked the engine up originally from Bimmerworld, with relatively low mileage around 60K from what I recall. We ran about 10-12 DE weekends with it, and it was a beast out on track running 2:27s at Sebring...limited by driver :)
A couple months back, we had an issue at Homestead with a shim/valve issue on #4 cylinder, so we pulled the head apart, got a replacement cam carrier (from England), put in a new valve, replaced all the valve springs/retainers with the heavy duty ones from VAC ($1000), did the Solid Lifter Kit from VAC (followers, caps, $1200), Schrick 284 cams ($1200), rebuilt Vanos by Dr. Vanos ($500), put in a new water pump ($400) and had the ECU reprogrammed by Rui ($500). So within the last month, we have almost $5000 in the upgrades to make it rock solid up top.
We started the car up, warmed it up, drove around the block and put on the dyno only to find out that the car is down about 20hp on top and as much as 40 lower in the RPM range. It is smoking as well, so we realized that we have an issue with the bottom end as well (although compression checks out at around 180 across).
So, motor is coming out, we are moving on and will sell complete to anyone looking to do a little bit of work on the bottom end to get an outstanding motor in the car. This is complete with ECU, harness, but without oil pump and pan. We are running a dry sump so that is moving over to our s54 swap. You will need to pickup the usual 5 series pan/pump to finish this off, but those are relatively inexpensive out there.
If it does not sell complete quickly, I will start taking it all apart, parting out all the components. So anyone looking for anything specific, let me know and I should have that in a week or so.
Looking to cut our losses and get $5000 for it, pretty much throwing in the motor for free and just getting back the cost of the brand new upgrades (15 minutes run time max on them)
Email me if interested. We'll help anyone out trying to do the swap with pictures, instructions, etc.
