I have 2 locking Thule roof racks that were on my VW Vanagons. These 2 racks ( 4 crossbars ) have rare medium height model 387 locking towers and 78 inch long crossbars. The normal height model 300 towers will work on a Vanagon but before you load up the rack with any serious weight the crossbars are almost touching the tall curved roof of a Bus/Vanagon. As soon as you place serious weight on the bars the rack sags and deforms the vehicles roof. You can also buy from Thule artificial raingutters s that attach to the side of a bus or Vanagon pop top so you can raise the roof without removing the rack. If you own a Vanagon large type vehicle and also own a BMW e30 and/or E28 these racks might work for you switched from vehicle to vehicle as needed. Yes these taller towers will look a little strange on a smaller car but they will fit from car to car as long as all your cars have RAINGUTTERS. Go to Thule.com for pictures of the 300 and 387 raingutter towers. I bought all these rack parts new and most of the time they were in my basement. The crossbars can be shortened with a hacksaw. Would prefere to sell locally in New England/New York area. 79 inch long bars may be very expensive to ship. Call 413 563 1829.
