Some day the e36 will be s54 powered. However that day is still far away.

even after that you still need an ECU and wiring harness and you need to defeat the anti theft system. And you either need the conversion to get rid of fly by wire or you need the fly by wire throttle set up. In all you I think you will have about $9,000 before you put the motor in the car

Or you can just be cool and run a stand-alone. And a throttle cable.

Just a different way to skin a cat. It's still going to cost a lot more than $3500.

need a stand alone that can handle the S54 vanos which I believe eliminates the megasquirt and leaves you with at minimum electormotive which is $2-3K, or do a vanos delete

I think MS handles the Vanos on the non S54, but i think it is a bit more complex on the S54, but that is a little outside my expertise

What's your point? It's obvious that if someone is going to drop an s54 they will be ready to spend the money, this isn't a M50NV junk yard swap ..

I don't see anything wrong with spending that money on it. I think it be worth it in the long run. If I could knew my work was steady enough right now I'd buy it.

Yup it's been up for a while. Pretty sure he's also parting out the car it came from, package deal option maybe?

I figure to do it right would cost $12 for a proper swap with custom exhaust and you be able to fit a BBK in there at that price.......and it would be worth every penny.

my point was I did not want someone to think they could do it for $5-7K
