    FEELER: S4.44 Diff?

Finally got crawled under the race car, tag has S 4 4 4 then a space and another 3 or 4 numbers. Am I to presume this is a 4.44 gear??
If so, I think its too short for my race track, and i have no use for LSD. I will soon have it out and open it up to verify it is what I think it is. I am open to trades, maybe some OPEN 4.10 and 3.something
Maybe bigger injectors, kinda going into the dark on this one.
    Thanks
    Chad

I have a 4.10 open. Figure out the shipping costs and I would be down to trade.

Uh, what? What kind of racing benefits from an open diff? Race to the wear bars?

The open Diffs, I would weld. Racing on DIRT, using a LSD would be a WASTE of good material, Im sure the Asphalt guys would appreciate its benifits better then I would. I still have some number crunching to do to find the optimal rear gear with 2nd or 3rd in the Man tran. Unless I find an Auto then I may use 2nd. When racin on DIRT, you dont shift, keep momentum in the corner, hope you have enough bottom end torque to pull out of the corner, and enough Revs left to pull all the way to the next corner, if the car is tight and wont rotate through, then let it slide, turn into the slide and gas it hard to pull down the straight.
Dirt and asphalt are two differant planets in the solar system of racing, lol.

Are you using an IRS e30 for circle track? I know some guys that used to run a quaife for circle track, until it got banned because they were winning all the time. Now everyone there runs a spool because the rules say you have to.

Yes. Running a M10 in a circle track 3/8 clay oval. Home of the Canadian stop for the WoO Sprints and latemodels.
The cars are allowed, only banned car at this track is Porsche. All cars must weigh one lb per CC plus 200. and the field is FILLED with Mustangs and 2.3's
Just to start at the season I will be 500 lbs lighter then them, have a IRS, and a wicked rear weight%

Are you running a smaller inside rear tire? If you are, then a welded diff makes sense, otherwise I think the LSD would be better.
