x5 shift lever, tms 173 chip

bent a control arm and need to raise some funds...

first off, i have an X5 shift lever for those of you who like a tall, notchy, short shift. the throw is shorter than a z3 1.9 and will need selector rod modification if you have a harmonic balancer. ran it for only a few hundred miles, the very last one in dealer stock in the lower 48. a little too aggressive for me. $85 shipped

    compared to a standard z3:

secondly, tms chip for 173 ecu, '88+ manual 325i/is. please don't lowball me saying you can find a dinan copy for $80 new. this is not a dinan copy. $120 shipped.

Interested in the shifter. What, if any, mods to fit without the harmonic balancer? Also, you said it was "tall" does that mean its not buried in the console? I am on the tall side 6.4 and hate these little ass shifters made for 5 footers.

edit: no harmonic balancer, no problems.

you need to either bend or grind (or both) the selector shaft to clear the balancer. if you drive with the seat far back, the shifter will be tilted back towards you making second gear pretty far back. here's a reference pic of my selector rod grind:
