So let me get this straight, what you're saying is that the stress of hanging by an end vertically is the same as laying it on a shelf horizontially (with 1/3 hanging off) under its own weight?

still not at all relevant to my thread for reasons I already gave. being forces are negligible in both cases and these things are not what I'd call soft metal.

I can't believe this is still for sale, this is a great deal people. I have a S50 crank and B28 pistons and rods in my e30 now. I shaved to pistons by 0.015" to bring CR down to 11:1. Without shaved pistons it would be 11.4:1. I can run 13's in the 1/4 mile and get over 300 miles/tank.

All that crap about deforming under its own weight is a urban myth that somehow always comes up. If a crank can handle spinning at 7k rpm with rods and pistons pushing/pulling on it, there is now way that it will become damaged by sitting on a table.
