I thought the same, until I went to buy a new motor and it was twice as long as my current. My BMW tech friend confirmed that it depends not on year, but on who manufactured the HVAC unit.
Mine looks like this (84 325e w/AC)
Friends looked like this (87 325i w/AC)
1990 332i, 4 door
2008 KTM 990 Superduke
2018 Golf R, 6spd manual (Pending delivery)
2017 Mazda CX-5 GT
2007 Z4M Coupe - Sold to very nice people
Need glove box + plastic panel just above it shipped to 98275. Only interested if they're both in mint condition, no cracks.
Also driver's knee panel thingy (under dash) if unless you have an airbag car, then never mind.
The 3 series 84-91 (E30 chassis) could have one of two different heater core/heater valve arrangements/ blower motor arrangements. You need to determine which system is in your car in order to get the correct part.
To determine which setup you have, open the hood, locate the hoses to the heater valve, then pull the hoses back to see if the inlet pipes are aluminum or plastic. You may also want to refer to the 2 diagrams below for further information.
Aluminum inlets...
Plastic Inlets...
Looking at the pictures above, it looks like the longer blower motor goes to an E30 with plastic inlets, while the shorter one goes to an E30 with aluminum inlets.
Hope this helps resolve any confusion.
Anyway OP, how about a PM with a price for the blower motor and the sunroof panel shipped to 12972?
