This is the best sub box design I have seen. I am interested in doing it myself since I am in college and my funds go to maintenance.

Could you do a write up with pictures of the process?

        Thanks

If you're in college why don't you make your own box and get a killer grade With your own design :)

I dont know nearly anything about making my own box, but for sure there's more to it than just making it fit and breathe properly, Like I said I dont know jack, but I know variables such as box flex, and other attributes can depict whether sub box is quality or not.

StereoInstaller1: I will be inquiring on a box shortly, after my swap is in and running, my very next goal is sound system, I have an set of alpine amps, both are 400w amps from alpine and that's all I know, Tonight I will take pictures of the gear and PM you, so we can get something going.

            Hi Jacob.

Believe it or not, I love helping others DIY, even if they "rip off" my design, because I really do like helping others get better sound.

I mean, this is what I do for a living, these are the products it has taken me over 20 years to develop and the knowledge that a lifetime of studying and experience that I have learned that I use to build these...but I would be happy to share my hard-earned skills and knowledge with you.

I still remember the asshole who told me "you want free design help with your graphics? People get paid for that you know" Well, this is a whole fucking bunch more difficult than photoshop, believe me, and you can't download the knowledge it takes to design and build a proper subwoofer.

So, I won't be sharing "pictures of the process", nor will I be giving you exact dimensions...but if you have the balls to ask, especially since you were so respectful, I am down to help you learn.

First, do you have access to a tablesaw? Very straight and accurate cuts, on an angle, are an absolute requirement. You need not have one as insanely accurate as our beloved Tablesaw Rex, but it does need to be decent, not some rattly old POS Ryobi that someone bought to remodel their house.

Second, you cannot use screws to join MDF. You MUST use a "cabinet stapler" regardless of what the twats on the interwebz have to say...screws are hack and will most definitely split the wood. Ours are Bostich, (generally considered "best") but any brand that can shoot a 11/2" 1/4" crown staple is all that is required.

You will also need a whole bunch of skill and knowledge for routering your holes...oh yeah, a router and circle guide, too, with the correct bits...or just a good quality jigsaw and a damn steady hand.

Then, you will need to measure the space to build in and do an assload of math, but I will walk you through that. It took me several years to get this design down, its highly unlikely that I would be willing to give it to you, but I would be happy to teach you enough to design and build your own.

Once you have the tablesaw and air nailer set up, I would be happy to point you in the right direction to learn enough to build a subwoofer. Fortunately, the foam gasket is an easy one on this box, the porting is pretty simple too.

Get access to a woodshop and lets talk.

            Luke
